Woke up with fake IG followers.... help!

Hey everyone! I had the craziest thing happen a couple of days ago, and I’m not sure what to think/do.
My dog has a fairly popular Instagram, he had about 16k followers.... two days ago, I open Instagram and see 5K+ new followers... He now has 21K+. My immediate thought was he was reposted somewhere or something....
As I look at a couple of the new followers, they all seem to be foreign accounts that have zero affiliation with the type of content I post about my dog....
So , I’m concerned that they’re fake! I didn’t “buy followers”, and honestly don’t want these 5K+ followers, because they aren’t the type to be engaged etc.
Another thing to mention is my dogs IG handle has people constantly trying to hack it.... it’s a four letter popular Latin name.
I am really concerned over this, how did it happen, what should I do?!
