TikTok Push Notifications [Android]

I downloaded TikTok about a month ago and I received push notifications whenever a friend sent me a message through the direct messages. This past week or so I have not been receiving any push notifications whenever someone sends me a message. I have checked the notifications in the app itself and settings in my phone. I also have cleared cache, uninstalled the app, and restarted my phone. Any suggestions? Thank you.
