Notification on Snapchat but no new message

I had two new friends on Snapchat to whom I sent a message and then I logged out from my account. When I logged back in they had disappeared from my chat list and I couldn't find them even when searching for their username. They could have simply blocked me, but I don't see how and why both of them would have done it at the same time, and also while we were in the middle of a normal conversation.
Now when I go on snap the blue circle thing showing something new is on the chat, but when I go there there's no message, and it's not something from my old convos either, so it seems like a message I can't reach. Do you think they just blocked me or have they disappeared somewhere when I logged out?
