Handling those pending requests

Hi,
I’m just curious what everyone else does in this situation. After a month or so, and the person has been online, is it best to cancel a “request sent” or continue to leave it? Also, why do you think people don’t action a request either way? How hard is “delete” if you don’t want to be friends, why would someone just leave it sitting there?
