Recommendation for a Facebook alternative?

I run a group that includes college student workers. When I started this, everyone had Facebook so we coordinated all our shifts, schedule changes, events, and file exchange through a Facebook group but now new college students don’t have or use Facebook.
What would be a good alternative app that maintains the sense of community (posting pictures etc), has posts that can be responded to and like (for scheduling), can have events, and is easily navigable like a Facebook group was. Bonus if some people are kinda familiar with it. Thank you for any and all suggestions!
