How do I stop Facebook and instagram showing my profile to people who have my number?

Hi
So I wondered if there is anyway to stop facebook & instagram from showing my profiles to everyone who has my phone number? This annoys the hell out of me because I don't want some people to find my online profiles but I don't see any way around it, aside from blocking these people. Is there anything in the settings where I can stop these apps from doing this? Thanks
