Facebook messenger blocked or not blocked

My girlfriend and I got in a huge argument, long story short she blocked me on her main account. I send a friend request to her backup, and sent a line of messages apologizing to her. About an hour or so after the fact I opened the messenger app and noticed I was unable to send any more messages.
However, it shows she hasn't read them (white circle w/ blue checkmark) so somehow she blocked me on messenger before even reading them???
So I went back to her profile and still says "Friend request pending" but the messenger icon is now greyed out...
Did she block me (on FB messenger)? If so, how did she do so without opening my messages first???
