These "gurus" really mess with your head.I've been doing research and in the next 5 years I see about 5 SM sites still being around;
Facebook Instagram Pinterest LinkedIn Twitter ( +1 -Youtube)
Maybe snapchat but the really depends on how Instagram and Facebook handle the market.
With each of them come their algorithm, other than pinterest most algorithms are a little finicky and as such I wanted to share some very basic outlines of what to look for when broadcasting yourself
Facebook- News feed focuses on "meaningful interaction". You're going to need to create more content which asks questions, strikes feeling of love, care, compassion, sadness, anger, disappointment or anything else, as long as it doesnt violate your users and consumers
Pinterest- guided search based on previous interaction Really that just means go all in on the things you appreciate, "niche-up" as they would say find something you like or want to market and join group boards, create sub-niches and create and atmosphere of that niche.
LinkedIn- content based on engagement and connection strength This one is I believe the most simple if you're truly on the site as a business minded individual, group or company it's simple. You can start by making connections with others, local or in your business niche by following them, liking their content, sharing and commenting. Linked in is a "networking" social media the question you should be asking is "how many of MY friends know the friends, of another friend of mine"
Instagram- Popularity, Relevancy, Relationships Instagram really IS the high school of social media, the popular group has first say, the wannabes are next and tied with them are the "geeks" people who are specialized in what they do. There deffinately is a niche market and we can expand on that however if you're not adding value to the eco system. If people are not liking your posts, following you or tagging their friends... you're in trouble.
Twitter- tweets ranked by time posted and relevance to user. Twitter wants to show the most interesting thing happening right now, 10k people interacting with garyvee on some new content or a give away might take precidence over some update from your local news network. It's all about WHATS THE COOLEST THING HAPPENING RIGHT NOW.
Admittedly I'm not a huge twitter user, I've tried but in my opinion it's the middle child who is like the older brother (Facebook) but not as smart and tried to be like the younger brother (Instagram) but isnt as popular. People will disagree that's just my opinion.
I hope you found value in this, I'm planning to continue this and break down each social media. As I said most "gurus" have really messed with my head so dont let me do the same, take this as a guide line and tell me where I'm wrong. I want to learn as well im still young.
Have a great one guys, wish you all the best -KD
