Hitting up small-medium sized businesses to write blogs for them?

Would it fly? I've been working for digital agencies for a few years now as a freelancer and sometimes there's a lot of work in it for me. But I don't like relying on other people so much. I'd like to offer my services to businesses who need regular content to share on their website's blog and to share on Facebook etc.
Would this fly? As a sole trader I mean? I plan to launch a website offering a few different writing services but with the emphasis on this.
I've written blogs on everything from electrical equipment to tea!
