Has anyone merged pages on Facebook? Not sure what exactly to expect.

I have an old Facebook page with around 1k followers that is currently unpublished. I have a new page focused on the same topic that I'd love to move those 1k followers over to. Facebook doesn't give much insight into what merging ACTUALLY does. Anyone have some insight they'd be kind enough to share?
