Facebook is faking security notices to force users to submit mobile # (verified)
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

This experiment was done using multiple new Facebook accounts. Accounts were made over the course of several weeks with varying amount of information and the result was always the same. Several days after creating an account, the following notice was presented requiring the user to verify their mobile phone number or be permanently locked out of their account.

You can verify this yourself simply by creating a new account and then waiting 2-5 days. You will be presented with a notice

"Facebook has noticed unusual activity..."

a "SECURE" button will be at the bottom which will take you to a "submit mobile # to verify account"

I was trying to post images of the notice however the subreddit's bot automatically removes them.
