BUSINESS OWNERS DON'T BE CONNED (a guide to influencer marketing)

Ive been working in social media marketing for about two years (not long I know). In this time influencer marketing has pretty much skyrocketed with some businesses now allocating a lot of their budgets and products towards influencer marketing.
The advice I want to give is that you avoid working with people who approach you. Especially users on Instagram which ONLY promote products. 9 times out of 10 these 'influencers' will just be regular people with massive followings of other 'Influencers' that comment on each others photos in order to push them up the feed.
Realistically you will get next to no exposure from this - they are promoting your products to other accounts promoting products (it pretty much will make your company a prime target from these con artists who will ask for free products in order for them to make another post (making it seem like they are more influential than they actually are).
In the world of influencer marketing - you approach the accounts that you want to work with. That way you can pick and choose who you target. Make them actually feel like you want to work with them (it goes a long way).
Sending out mass emails to hundreds of bloggers, Instagrammers and social media personalities just makes it feel corporate and at the end of the day that's not what they're doing what they do for. The things they do are all for the love/
