Are holiday posts worth it?

I've worked for marketing agencies, and freelanced for businesses and one thing I've consistantly noticed is a push for holiday posts. With that said, holiday posts almost always have the least engagement.
This trend of low engagement has always had me sceptical of holiday posts and if they are really worth the time. What's your experience/opinion with holiday posts? Have you ever seen one that made you follow a business or account?
