Private Facebook Event - How to message attendees?

A real estate client of mine is putting together a private facebook event. Right now more than 500 people are invited, with 50 "attending" (it's an rebranding online video launch).
We want to be able to send out a message when the video goes live, but right now facebook isn't allowing that setting. Is there a maximum number of attendees or invitees before that setting becomes available?
