Resource to learn social media from. Any?

Hello,
Despite of being a millenial, I never really got the social media. I dont understand why people use them and how. I dont get the enviroment, the communication, pretty much nothing about it.
I struggle finding answers for those questions. When there is something published about social media, it is either for people that never used computer before, or super simplified. (like: "using social media actives dopamine sensitive part of your brain!" -Oooh, you has to be joking!)
I understand a bit of behavioral psychology, but it all seems to not make sense in a world of the internet.
So - what is the way you learned? Or - are there any useful materials (from books to studies) you learn from?
