Facebook automatically hiding comments

This happens constantly. I never seem to have more than a 6-reply exchange with somebody, and then all of a sudden, even though I get a notification that the other person replied again, I cannot see it. I go into "all comments" and "new comments", but still they are hidden. It'll say "7 replies," but counting there's only six.
Often it also happens in other situations. I have no idea why in these; it'll say "2 replies" but only one appears or something to that effect. This situation is less common, but still happens quite often.
