I have experienced several times across multiple socmed platforms the need to prove my identity or otherwise unlock my account. Now came the time when I can't. My Twitter account requires me to provide a phone number, but I have no phone and do not intend to get one. So I spent thirty minutes figuring out how to get around the automatic open-the-app thing in order to submit a Help ticket via the website, because the app kept asking for my phone number even as I tried to fill out the help form through the app.
There must be many other people who encounter this or similar problems. And plz don't tell me to get a phone, or, in the case of my Facebook account, submit my ID. There is no damn reason why I should need to prove my identity with a phone number or ID if the nature of the lockout is given as "Violation of Terms" or whatever. If I say something extremely offensive, my identity is irrelevant.
I know Facebook and Twitter will never change their cyberstalking ways, but I just need to vent. Somewhere out there, I have 5 Gmail accounts, 4 Facebook accounts, and 3 Hotmail accounts because of this shit.
