YouTube Ads: Why the Sudden CPM Surge?

From an ad-placing perspective, it seems like YouTube Ads have been sky-rocketing in cost over the last 60 days. Does anyone know why? Of course volume must be up, but this has become significant. CPM's that hovered around $5.50 in a market have shot up to almost $10.
