Why can’t my friend and I add each other?

So overnight, I noticed that while messaging my friend, I could no longer see her online status and sure enough it said we were no longer fb friends. The thing is that I tried to re-add her and it was greyed out. The thing is that we have no mutual friends. I changed my settings where she didn’t have to have a mutual friend with me to add me. I saw her send the request to me but I do not see it in my friend requests. What the heck is going on?
