Breaking into social media marketing !

Hello all! To get straight to the point: I want to start a career in digital/social media marketing. I’ve taken free courses online, I’ve watched YouTube videos, lurked on different sub Reddit’s such as this one, read blogs, etc... but I fail to see how I can use this knowledge to launch a career. I’m tired of taking courses that have the same content or reading blogs that say the same thing. I want actually practical experience that is useful to landing me job opportunities
What is the ideal method to getting ones foot in the door ? Would love to hear from those more experienced on how they broke into this industry.
