Lots of companies have made audio-based social media where people keep up with each other through voice memos, most recently PodPals and Koo, but other companies such as Anchor moved away from being a social platform and into a podcasting app. Voxer gained popularity as a similar "walkie talkie" app, but then moved into being a professional tool.
So... will an audio-based social media ever succeed?
