Creating engagement on Instagram

Has anyone had luck with this?
Background: I run social for a midwest manufacturing company with international reach. We are really good at what we do and have a strong customer base to the point our bottom line would be no different if we didn't use social media. I don't sell on any platforms, only introduce products and tell the company story.
We get engagement everywhere but Instagram. We do have a set group that gives us a like on everything we post. But, I can't get people to talk to us/each other on there. Anyone have any tricks that work for Instagram engagement?
