Decline of video performance on Instagram

Contrary to what Facebook has been telling us for ages, we have recently notice that static images and carousel posts have been outperforming video content on our Instagram account.
Has anyone else noticed this? Could it be a recent change in the algorithm?
Would love to know other people's experiences.
