Trials for rewards

Idk if this is the right place to post this, but I couldn’t find any subreddits dedicated to topics like this. On some apps that run with an in game currency allow users to do trials and stuff for free coins. For example, “download final fantasy XV and get to level 10 for 2000 coins”. I’m curious as to whether or not these actually work. It seems that the app would be unable t track your progress on a completely different app. Long story short, do these ‘Trials for rewards’ options actually work?
