Why I Left Social Media
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
Yes, I’m well aware that YouTube, Pinterest and even Reddit are considered social media. Those are the only 3 I still have. So why keep them when I got rid of Facebook, Twitter, instagram, Snapchat and LinkedIn? For starters, YouTube and Pinterest are actually useful. I can learn how to do things from them. Reddit is a decent source of knowledge and input from other people. However, the ones that I left really weren’t contributing anything to my life. It was nice when I saw where a friend posted about something good happening to them, but most of the time, my timeline was filled with ads which I felt is a violation of privacy considering they were mostly about things I had recently searched on Google. I can understand if I searched for something on FB, but not Google. Also, hardly any friends were actually posting personal stuff that should be shared. Instead, it was an endless scroll of shares and chain letters. Or the, if you believe in God share, if not then He will kill you in your sleep. Yes, I’m a Christian. But I honestly doubt God gives a crap of whether or not I share a million random pictures of him on Facebook. And it got even worse with Facebook messenger. Then of course, there was all the fake news. Look, unless it’s from CNN, ABC, NBC, Fox or some other CREDIBLE news source, I MIGHT buy into it. But I’m also a weirdo who looks at the subject and the solution and forms my own opinion rather than give in to the opinions of others. But anyway, there’s like a thousand “news” sites on Facebook...none of them credible. Yet I’m supposed to believe every BS President Trump story they publish. And everyone loses their mind over this crap and again, we’re back to the annoying shares. The others I really didn’t use much anyway. I occasionally got on Twitter during wrestling to post my thoughts...usually negative toward Cena or Reigns. So here’s the challenge to Mark Zuckerberg. Make FB more personal again. Go ahead, charge $1 a month with the guarantee that I will not see any ads whatsoever and that I will only see direct posts from family and friends and not just things they’ve shared. I don’t care if I see the same posts for a year. At least it will be personal. Make it where I get NO game requests EVER!!! I actually clicked on the ignore game invites thing, but still, I get new requests every day. Once it reaches 100, it’s time to get rid of all of them. Make it where I can personalize my home page with music and other stuff...like MySpace used to do. Let me change colors. Let me have a background. Make it fun. It’s simple things that will save Facebook. Otherwise, I see it going under within a few years...5 at most. Thoughts?
