In line with the powerful nature of this year’s Golden Globes, the beauty looks on the red carpet were meaningful and conveyed messages of strength and equality, too.
Whether stars were making statements with bold red lipsticks or purple eyeshadow, we got the scoop from their hair and makeup teams about what really went into the beautiful Golden Globes 2018 beauty looks.

Jessica Chastain
Makeup artist Tyron Machhausen said he wanted to give Jessica Chastain “fierce fire engine red lips for a fierce woman,” using Chanel Rouge Allure lipstick in “Passion” to convey the message.

Margot Robbie
Celebrity Hairstylist Bryce Scarlett used Moroccanoil products to get Margot Robbie’s gorgeous waves. We got the full breakdown of her look!
Step 1: On damp hair, use a dime size amount of Moroccanoil Treatment Light to provide the perfect foundation for styling.
Step 2: Next, work Moroccanoil Root Boost into the roots of the hair and blow dry using a round brush to create lift. Finish the blow out with a deep side part.
Step 3: Section the hair into one inch sections and spray Moroccanoil Perfect Defense onto each section before using a 1.25 inch curling iron, pulling on the curl as it’s released from the iron to create a long, lean wave.
Step 4: Going away from the face on the heavy side of the parting, curl in the same direction towards the smaller side of the parting so all of the curls are uniform and one direction.
Step 5: Set the whole look with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Medium, spraying both the hair and working through the hair with the spray on a boar bristle brush to create a sleek and shiny look. Focus on spraying the ends to give the hair sharpness and shape.

Makeup artist Matin Maulawizada used Charlotte Tilbury products on Mandy Moore. He broke down the look on Instagram, should you want to recreate it!
“I started the skin prep with [Charlotte Tilbury’s] Dry Sheet Mask while Mandy was getting her hair done. After that I started massaging Magic Cream all over her face, neck, shoulders and arms followed by Brightening Youth Glow. Hollywood Flawless Filter in 5 tan on her cheekbones and high points of her face shoulders and back. I used Magic Foundation #5 in to even out her already gorgeous skin followed by Hollywood Contour Wand, which everyone MUST have, and a bit of Sculpt and highlight to increase the intensity of glow. On the apple of the cheeks I applied Ecstasy blush for a hint of flushed cheeks. For the eyes I started with Colour Chameleon in Golden Quartz and finished it off with The Dolce Vita eye shadow quad to define and frame the eyes with out it going to retro. A Full Fat Lashes Black mascara and finally I used Hollywood Lips in Walk of Fame on her lips. I only powdered where I needed (T-zone, sides of nose and inner cheeks) with Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder in #2 Medium.”

Emma Stone
On Emma Stone’s look, makeup artist Rachel Goodwin said, “My colour palette for today’s #goldenglobes looks inspired by fierce women and forces of nature.” She also told People “I thought, red lipstick was a colour suffragettes wore, so I did more research and found that they also wore very specific, symbolic sashes, pins, petticoats and all these things in purple, emerald green and white when they were fighting for the right to vote.” The purple shade that Goodwin chose was Nars Dominique Audacious Lipstick.

Issa Rae
On the beautiful Issa Rae, makeup artist Joanna Simkin used CoverGirl “in every plum shade they make on the face and Vaseline in every 100% cocoa butter situation they make on the body. I wanted Issa’s skin to glow, as I think it’s her most beautiful aspect. I used CoverGirl Vitalist Foundation in Soft Sable. I love the way this foundation stays looking so moist and hydrated on her – it really helps accentuate her gorgeous skin.”

“I created a zig-zag part at the top of her head, then secured all her hair into an extremely tight ponytail in the back using an elastic band. I then started to twist the ponytail around the elastic band until I felt it buckle. Once I felt that buckle, I secured the hair with bobby pins to keep the bun in place.
To finish off the look and make sure it appeared extra glossy, I used the Joico Power Spray FastDry Finishing Spray which not only ensured the hair would stay in place, but also give a high-gloss, almost wet-look finish. Finally, for an extra hint of flair, we decided to use chain-metal panels on the side of the head to creating a fun, asymmetrical look.”
