Google Remarketing? What's Involved? It's the first time I've heard of it :(

Hey Everyone,
So today was the first time I heard of google remarketing. I suppose it is due to my lack of experience in digital ad ...
I am familiar with FB Ads, where one markets to "cold" audiences, gets them to come to my store, and from there I re-target these customers who've visited with retargeted ads.
But how is this done on Google Ads?
I mean, I have Google Ads set up thus far, but I just figured they were marketed to cold audiences who searched keywords that I selected in my ads and then competed for ad space to get them to see my ads etc etc.
Does anyone have any top-of-the-house guidance on Google remarketing set-up/strategies, or any informative links/forums/discussions they could provide by chance?
