Vertical video on YouTube? "Best format" for social vids?

Here's my understanding of 'best' formats:

• Insta - square
• YT - portrait
• FB/LinkedIn/Twitter/Tiktok - vertical

I couldn't find info on how vertical videos perform on YT, but lots of stats show most people browse it via mobile, so vertical could be fine?

But that leaves out Instagram, except stories which disappear, and IGTV!?

Most of our competitors do portrait, but, I'm a forward thinking guy, is it ok to make vertical tutorial videos etc?

Any thoughts?
