Does using multiple hashtags on Twitter actually decrease the post impressions?

Sounds counter-intuitive I know, but I'm seeing that the more hashtags I use on a Twitter post, which you would think should yield MORE impressions, gets me LESS impressions when I view the post analytics.
And I'm not talking about using an obscene amount. Maybe 3 on average.
Maybe Twitter sees multiple hashtag usage as "hashtag abuse" or "hashtag spam" and throttles who sees your post?
