Kim Kardashian West is suing a makeover app for $10 million
iHandy Ltd, the company behind makeup app Sweet Cam, was slapped with a hefty lawsuit by Kim Kardashian West this week for $10 million. The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star is suing the app for using her likeness without permission for promotional purposes – or the “unauthorized use and fraudulent commercial exploitation of Kim Kardashian West’s photograph and worldwide instantly recognizable celebrity persona” in official terms. The lawsuit claims that Sweet Cam took one of West’s own images and “copied, cropped, manipulated and exploited it” in an advertising campaign which shows the beauty mogul’s image (pictured above) being altered through the app. According to WWD, Kim is also “demanding iHandy disclose how much money was earned through the usage of her photo [and] that iHandy cannot use her photos or name going further to promote its app.” Watch this space.

Deciem announces all of its stores (and website) will close on Black Friday
Canadian skincare company Deciem has decided to no longer take part in Black Friday – instead, the brand is launching Black(out) Friday, closing all of its stores and temporarily disabling its websites on November 29th. In a release, it says the decision was because the company “no longer feels comfortable being involved in a single day so heavily centered around hyper-consumerism.” Instead, Deciem is offering a 23 per cent discount on all of the products on its website for the month of November to encourage consumers to “shop slowly for their specific concerns and needs.” Abormal, yes, but also highly commendable.
