Someone PLEASE help me learn how to collapse captions on Instagram.

I'd like to be able to hide my caption after the first line or two.
I see zillions of posts that have a few words followed by "...more" and then of course once you click on it BAM there's all the information and hashtags and whatnot, nicely hidden away.
Google and Reddit were able to teach me the basics of IG formatting - how to do the spaces, the dots, hide hashtags in comments, etc and that's all easy enough. But for the life of me I cannot force the app to collapse my long ass captions!
(It works on the desktop site but never, ever on mobile)
