Do Hashtags Work on IGTV?

I've recently started posting on my IGTV channel. My primary way of growing for the past year was through my hashtag strategy. When posting my first IGTV video I noticed the hashtag button wasn't on the front of my keyboard like with regular posts, and when I went to the numeric keyboard to use the pound key the words didn't light up blue or give me a drop down list of communities. I've seen a bunch of articles and blogs that say they use hashtags on their IGTV posts but I can't find anything describing what I'm experiencing. Plus, I don't want to waste time with IGTV if it's only going to be seen by people already following me.
