Proper techniques for mass unfollowing?

I recently took on a client who’s previous social manager decided it was a good idea to follow 4K accounts. I’ve been chipping away at it daily with about 200 unfollows a day, but I’m wondering if there is a smarter/more professional way to handle this. Does anyone have experience?
Account has 9k followers, 1% ER Audience audit: 63% real people, 6% influencers, 16% mass followers, 14% suspicious accounts.
