Business Page Name Change Denied
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
I'm running a business page for a sole proprietor that is re-branding her business. It's a hair salon, so nothing earth shattering here, but they've refused to allow her name change and keep referencing "page guidelines" and sending me to this link https://www.facebook.com/help/519912414718764.
Problem is, her name change in no way violates any terms and conditions there. Currently it's "(person's name) design suite" and she needs to change it to "platinum by (person's name)". They *only* thing I can think is that they're having a fit about the two (person's name) being different. Hair professionals are coached early on to pick a "stage name" to avoid stalker-like issues outside of work. That's no longer a necessity for her and thus, the re-brand.
Facebook's infallible and unaccountable "global marketing solutions" rep has deemed this issue closed and final without giving us any indication of how they came to this conclusion. They've literally advised us to "create a new page with the desired name"... because that makes sense. "We won't let you change your name for your business page, but you can create an *identical* page from scratch, one which is in no way different from the page you're trying to rename... with the name you're trying to change your existing page to."
So if anyone has any pointers on how this can be worked around (page merge?) please help. If not, I guess, cautionary tale for any entrepreneurs out there. If you're thinking of re-branding your business, run it by the almighty Facebook first for their approval. /s
