Looking for a secondary social media site for my hobbies. Which is best?

I have pretty much exclusively used Facebook as my only social media platform for the past 10 years. I find it is the best social platform to keep up with friends and generally stay in contact with particular groups and people.
However, I find that I extremely rarely care to share anything on this main platform where co-workers, family, and general acquaintances are. I just feel like I would rather put my hobbies in a different platform that people have to follow me on in order to see.
Is the best medium for this Instagram? I have never used it so I am not sure how it works, or if there is a better alternative?
