Anyone else have issues tagging certain pages on Facebook?

I have a client and their brand is carried by a number of larger retailers, which we traditionally tag in posts across social streams. The retailers seem to like it as well, as they often engage with our content. Great, right? But the issue is actually getting their correct handles tagged.
Facebook has become a bit wonky when we tag the retailers. Even though we type in the exact handle, often times it's linking to one of the regional sub/fan accounts.
For example, I would tag @walmart. Facebook would populate the handle as @walmart, but when you click on it, it's a page with 2 likes, and not the official Wal-Mart page.
Edit This is through the native Facebook site. Although, Hootsuite doesn't seem to offer a better solution.
