A few questions about Facebook's friend recommendation system
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
I asked this on r/facebook last week but didn't receive a response, so I thought I'd post it here instead:
I have a second Facebook account using an alias (so I can link it to Reddit without revealing my real name/having IRLs stalk my Reddit). At the moment, I just use it to like a Billy Joel fan page (lol) and only have one friend (someone else from the fanpage, lives nowhere near me, I don't know her IRL). And yet someone I used to go to college with popped up on my recommended friends list. Baring in mind, we have no mutual friends (even on my main account, we only have 1 mutual friend), I haven't seen her in over a year, she doesn't live in the same city as me (so it's not a close location thing), and I'm not even friends with her on my main account. I've never emailed her using the address I linked the FB account with, and she's not a contact anywhere on the iPad I use (however, I did take the iPad to college every day). So....a few questions:
1) Why is this happening?
2) How do I get it to stop?
3) Am I likely to be a recommended friend to her? I don't want Facebook to suddenly start recommending this account to everyone I know, or else my cover is blown and all my friends find out I'm an even bigger Billy Joel nerd than they thought :(
Thank you :)
