Advice for Comedy channel with HUGE potential

My friends and I specialize in doing stupid stuff and filming it. Most videos start as something completely spontaneous but turn out to have a hilarious conclusion. The videos are mainly focused around 2 of my friends, who I consider the stars of “the show”. Their ability to make people laugh is incomperable. I have a collection of over 100+ videos. Most of them include a rage quit style “freakout”, a funny argument, a prank, roasting, etc. I have no doubt that the videos have potential to go viral.

While reading this, you probably think I’m way over my head of how big this could turn out, but literally every person that I’ve showed the videos to:

  1. laughed uncontrollably
  2. complemented the content
  3. suggested I started posting the videos online

I want to create a channel/account/brand revolving around these videos. Since the videos are mostly 0:30 to 1:00 minute in length I figured that Facebook and Instagram would be the best choices to distribute the content. Some of the footage is not of the best quality (iPhone camera), which doesn’t really make it worthy for Youtube yet. When the channel takes off I will consider spreading the brand around the Youtube community as well by providing more lengthy videos with better quality in terms of video/audio/editing. Vine2 is also planned in mind, when it gets released.

I have ideas on how to monetize this (shoutouts, merchandise, partnerships, etc.) for the future, but I first need to build an audience. I am sure the channel will explode if it reaches enough people.

I need advice on how to proceed with this idea. I have capital to invest in this project. My budget is around $5,000. Additionally I am willing to spend an additional ~$500 per month for tools and such.

  • What are the best tools and resources that I will need to invest in for both Instagram and Facebook, according to my budget? HootSuite, Instamator, Zen-Promo, etc.?
  • How do I proceed with a strategy for this type of channel?
  • How do I proceed with a name of the channel? I need it to be something that people will easily memorize? I’m struggling finding a name, any ideas for this would be appreciated
  • Should I first start posting before I use tools such as Instamator to grow my audience? The reason I’m asking this is because I want to have a decent audience before I upload the funniest of videos. Basically I’m concerned that If i don’t have a following prior to posting the videos, my efforts will go unrecognized because not enough people will see them and share/like/comment in order for them to reach others.
  • To what extent should I be concerned with the content of the videos? I’m asking because undeniably some of my footage may offend people. While the content is comedic, I want to keep things professional so I can retain the opportunity for monetizing and partnerships in the future. Some of the footage includes swearing, obvious intoxication, making fun of each other (everyone in the group agrees to it).
  • How should I proceed with targeting my audience?

My target audience based on the feedback I received would mostly be teenagers and young adults. 15~30.

Any tips and advice would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.
