Grow A Large Meetup Group Fast AF

📢 I've talked about collaborating with other Meetup groups, but what if you want to grow your own large group?
There are really 2 ways to grow a Meetup group.
1) The traditional ways.
Start your group on Meetup and let people naturally find your group. In the first month, depending on the topic of your group, you should see around 100 - 150 people join your group organically. 🚶♀🚶♂🚶♀🚶♂
🎉 Start hosting some events and encourage attendees who are not part of your Meetup to join your Meetup. Make sure your group is hosting events at least twice a month so your group appears active and fun.
👩💼 Here are some extra ideas to grow your group.
✅ Go to other events and ask people to join your Meetup group. It's nice to have a card printed out with your Meetup url so you can hand those out.
✅ You can join local Facebook Groups and encourage people to join your Meetup by posting your links.
✅ You can find relevant Reddit threads in your area and post links to your group.
Just think about ways that you can get "subscribers" to your group.
2) The growth hacker way 👨🔧
Yesterday I talked about scraping Meetup groups. Here is how you can take things one step further.
Let's say you want to grow a large Meetup group in New York specifically for real estate agents.
You can find all the Meetup groups for Real Estate agents, scrape the member information, verify emails and then create a CSV of up to 2000 people.
Once you have your CSV file you can create a Gmail account (or use your own) and create a new Meetup . com profile with that new Gmail. You'll upload your CSV file of contacts to Gmail so all the contacts will be stored in your Gmail account. 📧
➡ Head over to Meetup, go to the group you want to grow and click the INVITE FRIENDS button.
Once you do that, you can automatically connect to Gmail and invite all of your new "contacts" to the Meetup group.
I think you can invite up to 2000 new contacts a day but I would limit it to 500 invitations a day.
Ideally, you would combine both techniques. If you followed this formula within two - three months you could have the largest Meetup group in your category hands down.
